  • Day 3 Amman hotel - Jerash - Dead Sea - Dead Sea overnight

we will begin our journey by leaving the hotel

Jerash is situated on a picturesque plain, enveloped by lush hills and fertile basins. General Pompey conquered it in 63 BC, and it later fell under Roman rule, becoming one of the ten great Roman cities of the Decapolis League.

The city flourished during Roman rule, earning the name Gerasa. Today, it is widely recognized as one of the most well-preserved Roman provincial towns globally. For centuries, Jerash lay hidden beneath the sand until it was carefully unearthed and brought back to life over the course of 70 years. Today, Jerash stands as a remarkable testament to the grand and sophisticated Roman urban design that can be seen across the Middle East. Its streets are paved and lined with columns, its temples sit majestically atop hills, and its theaters are truly impressive. The city also boasts expansive public squares and plazas, as well as baths, fountains, and fortified walls with towering gates. Jerash, with its Graeco-Roman influence, beautifully combines elements from both the East and the West. The architecture, religion

,and languages of this place beautifully showcase the harmonious blending of two influential cultures - the Graeco-Roman world of the Mediterranean basin and the traditions of the Arab Orient.

On the face of the earth, this expansive body of water is fed by several rivers, including the renowned River Jordan. After the waters reach the Dead Sea, they become trapped and eventually evaporate, leaving behind a concentrated mixture of salts and minerals. This valuable resource is utilized by various industries, agriculture, and medicine to produce high-quality products.

The Jordanian east coast of the Dead Sea has become a popular destination for both religious and health & wellness tourism in the region, offering breathtaking natural and spiritual landscapes.

One of the main highlights of the Dead Sea is its incredibly salty water, which is known for its warmth and soothing properties. The water is about ten times saltier than sea water and contains a variety of chloride salts, including magnesium, sodium, potassium, bromine, and more. Throughout history, the warm and mineral-rich waters have been a magnet for visitors, drawing in notable figures like King Herod the Great and the legendary Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra. Many people have had the pleasure of indulging in the Dead Sea's rejuvenating mud and experiencing the unique sensation of effortlessly floating on their backs, basking in the sun's gentle rays and absorbing the water's beneficial minerals.

you will depart from the hotel.

Petra, a truly remarkable site, is undoubtedly one of Jordan's most precious gems and a top destination for travelers. This incredible city is a true marvel, with its impressive architecture carved into the rock face by the Nabataeans. Over 2000 years ago, this industrious Arab civilization transformed it into a bustling hub for trade routes connecting various regions. From China and India to Egypt, Syria, Greece, and Rome, this city played a vital role in the exchange of silk, spices, and other valuable goods.

The city's entrance is a breathtaking experience, as visitors pass through the Siq, a majestic gorge that stretches over 1km in length. Towering cliffs, reaching a staggering height of 80m, line both sides of this remarkable pathway. Simply strolling through the Siq is an unforgettable experience. The vibrant hues and intricate shapes of the rocks are truly mesmerizing. As you approach the end of the Siq, a breathtaking sight awaits you - the magnificent Al-Khazneh (Treasury).

Petra is home to a multitude of incredible sights, with the Treasury being just the beginning. Prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking natural beauty and awe-inspiring architectural wonders that await you in the Petra valley. There are numerous intricate rock-cut tombs adorned with detailed carvings. Unlike the houses, which were mostly destroyed by earthquakes, the tombs were crafted to withstand the test of time. Around 500 of these tombs have endured, captivating visitors as they pass by the mysterious dark entrances. Additionally, there is a grand theater constructed by the Nabataeans in a Roman architectural style, boasting a seating capacity of 3,000 individuals. Discover a wealth of ancient structures and architectural marvels, including obelisks, temples, sacrificial altars, and colonnaded streets. Perched high above the valley, the breathtaking Ad-Deir Monastery awaits, accessible via a remarkable flight of 800 rock-cut steps.
