The Egyptian pyramids are among the greatest achievements of the Pharaonic civilization and an enduring symbol of ancient architectural genius. The three famous pyramids are located on the Giza Plateau and include:

1. The Pyramid of Khufu (the Great Pyramid)

• The largest of all the pyramids in Egypt and the world.
• Its original height was approximately 147 meters and it weighed approximately 5.75 million tons.
• It consists of approximately 2.3 million stone blocks.
• The Great Pyramid was covered with a smooth layer of white limestone, which reflects sunlight and makes it sparkle like a jewel. However, most of this layer was lost due to earthquakes and reused in the construction of Islamic Cairo.

2. The Pyramid of Khafre (Chefren)

• Located to the southwest of the Pyramid of Khufu.
• It appears taller than the Pyramid of Khufu due to its construction on higher ground, but it is actually slightly shorter.
• It was built by order of Khafre, Khufu's son.
• The Pyramid of Khafre still retains part of its original outer casing at its summit, providing a glimpse into the ancient form of the pyramids.

3 . Pyramid of Menkaure

• The smallest of the three pyramids at Giza, it stands approximately 67 meters tall.

The Great Sphinx is one of the most prominent archaeological symbols in the Arab Republic of Egypt, specifically in Giza Governorate, and is considered the largest and oldest carved statue in the world. The statue is distinguished by its unique shape, combining the body of a lion with the head of a human wearing the royal headdress known as the "Nemes," symbolizing both strength and wisdom.

The statue has been exposed to erosion over the ages and lost its nose in an incident whose details remain mysterious to this day. Some of the damage is believed to have resulted from an ancient repair attempt or a cannon attack during the Ottoman era.
