Our expert tour guide will meet and greet you at the Alexandria Port and take you on a tour to Rosetta which is approximately 60 kilometers from the port in Alexandria . On reaching Rosetta we will take a traditional motor boat in the River Nile to visit the renowned island of Abu Mandor that comprises a famous mosque and several enticing mythological stories. Then we will head towards the meeting point of the Nile and the Mediterranean sea . Here you will find the Castle of Katebet where the famous “Rosetta Stone'' was found in 1799.
“Rosetta Stone” is a granite stele with carved texts in three different languages, which made a major contribution to deciphering the hieroglyphs. Rosetta is considered as a large open-air museum for Islamic architecture. Here you can find a huge number of Islamic monuments which you cannot find in any other city except for Cairo. However, due to unplanned urbanization and neglect the site and its unique monuments have been suffering damages. To revive the historical essence of the city, efforts from the national level must be done.
