The Saint Catherine Monastery is about 220 kilometers northwest of Sharm el Sheikh and is located between the Saint Catherine’s mounts and the Moses Mount, which is considered the oldest monastery of Christianity. The monastery is an Orthodox Greek monastery and within its walls rests the citadel which is impressively rich in important religious and historical structures. Among many of its treasures, the library of ancient manuscripts and icons is the highlight. This library is second only to the Vatican itself. You can also find a 6th-century church that lies directly on the site of the Burning Bush.
